So I'm about to sell my external hard drive, have a potential buyer lined up. I want to erase all my data and completely wipe it so no one can ever recover it. Anyone have any recommendations for some software that'll do this? Thanks.

Plug it into your computer, right click the hard drive and click format then pick weather or not you want to format it with fat32 or fat.

Here is a video just in case you can't figure it out, witch I know you could do it.

Its a simple method and way of doing it, Anyone could do this.

I know how to do that. I want a program that writes random data over and over again so any old data is unrecoverable.

Haha, I would like to resell it... don't think the purchaser would like it very much if I did that.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

Zilla Data Shredder is what I use. I wipe my hard disk drives with it all the time. You can use it right inside Windows so there is no need to make a boot disk. You can write over a drive up to 35 times if you wish (of course that would likely take a few days in time to do it). I can give you a tutorial on how to use it if you are interested send me a personal message.

You can download it here:
