OK
so i just rebuilt my computer since my motherboard fried and it has been working for about 2 months. When i started it this morning there was a wire rubbing against the CPU fan so I opened it and moved it. after that the fan of the CPU started spinning slowly and the the hard drive started making clicking sounds at intervals about 2 or 3 seconds.

my guess is hard drive failure but im not sure.any input would be greatly appreciated.

Click, click, click uintil one drive goes DOA! The read/writes tapping the platters makes it time for serious backup of anything you want to save off of the drive! Have a dvd burner installed for making data dvds? Your best bet there is to get another drive in and slave the failing drive to it for copy+pasting files since it may not hold up trying to burn to removable media.

well, I would do that but when i start the computer all i get a is a blank screen (black). The power light on the monitor is orange instead of green.

edit:
nevermind its working now. I unpluged the IEDE cable and power cable from the HDD and turned it on just to make sure my vid card still worked, then plugged everything back in and turned it on and it worked!!!!
