Hard drive format easy question.

My computer was running buggy, so I wanted to do a restore with the disk and wipe everything out. I dragged all of my music and pictures, etc onto my spare hard drive. I disconnected spare hard drive and did the restore. Now when I try to access all of my pictures on the spare hard drive it says that it needs to be formatted. Am I screwed? :confused: I put that hard drive in long ago and I guess never formatted it.
 
screwed? maybe... Try to repair the partition using specific software. If you are not succesfull, use some data recovery software to retrive your pics.
 
The external hdd has obviously been formatted before otherwise you wouldnt be able to use it and put stuff on it. What exactly happens when you plug it in?
 
If you go for a full reinstall of windows you can choose to reformat the drive when installing.
