hard-drive formating to remove the drive split

Hello

I have a question regarding formatting my Maxtor hard disk c: drive. Using xp operating system.

Earlier, the hard disk c: drive has been custom split, in MSDOS, (if I remember correctly a floppy disk was used) into 2 disks, into c: and d: drives. The total hard drive has 20GB which, c: drive has 5.9GB and the d: has 13.7 gb. As the c: drive is full I wish to format the c: drive in order to remove the split of the c: and d: drives and only to have the c:.

I tried to do format via XP but it dopes not work. what should I do?

Would very much appreciate your kind reply and help.

I just answered this in another thread, I know you would like to get this fixed, but please refrain from create multiple postings for the same message

did not work

hello

i did try to delete both partition but the main disk c: that, is split and has d: too, could not be deleted the partition only the d: as when i try to rigth click on the mouse the delet partition is not highlighted therefore can not be applied. only the d: can be deleted. so this is the reason for my frustration.... :o when the split was done it was done after i purchased the mashine and a mate did for me. what am i doing wrong? is the reason that the norton internet security is on or is it something wrong.

when you boot from the windows xp cd, there will be a list of drives and partition, highlight them, and press delete, then there should only be one partition.
