Hard Drive Gone Mental - Need Help

Hi,

I have installed a IDE 320GB SeaGate Barracuda 7200 drive into my deskttop and everything was working fine for a few days. What has started to happen now is when ever I switch on the PC, it seems to hang on the start up screen showing the drives on the PC.

When I do finally get into Windows it seems that if I try and access or format the drive it just locked Windows and required a full reset.

Is there anything that anyone can advise me to do at all?

Sounds like a defective drive! The heads probably froze up explaining the locks now being seen when first starting during the post tests where all drives see a quick test and later when trying access the drive where the heads/swing arm are frozen causing Windows to lock in an endless loop.
