Hard Drive Grinding Help

One of the hard drives is grinding on my server. But it does not sound like a normal grind.... It sounds more louder then a normal grind. When there is no disk activity, i cant hear it at all. It does not wine and I have no problem in windows, no errors or anything... It seams to work just fine. Should I be worried?

You mean it makes like a Growling noise of some sort? If so then its normal, just alot of Information running though the Hard Drive. If thats the case Defrag your HD and maybe that will loosen the problem slightly

Best way to test if its just normal drive grinding or a failing drive would be to disconnect the sas/sata/ata connector, plug in the power connector, and start up the drive. If its still "grinding" you may have a failing drive, if its just the normal drive access noise then your fine..

It sounds like a normal access noise but its just loud..... just very different then it once was...... defrag don't work i have tried.
