Hard Drive Help

It seems that when I accidentally hit the power strip our computer was plugged into the hard drive died. The drive is still functional, but the part that has windows on it seems to be corrupt. Is there a way to bypass the windows startup and just access the files so that I can copy them to a working drive. Any help would be appreciated.

A good way to to use a different drive, make the existing a slave or external drive to access your data... hopefully this will help make things easier for you...????

plug in the good drive as the primary hdd and swap the jumper on the broken hhd to slave install windows on the new drive then you will be able to access the old drive to remove what you want. if you install windows on the new drive you will have no problems registering it because windows is attached to your mobo so it will be fine.
