I bought a new hard drive, and I want to replace it with my old one. I'm not to sure how to go about it. I know what connects to what, but where should the jumper be? and will I loose everything on my comp? is there a way to maybe transfer stuff over. I dont want to loose everything. Thanx a lot

What brand is it? Usually the big manufacturers such as WD , seagate, or maxtor give you a disk that you can boot from, and copies your old hard drive to your new one. With jumpers, the safest is to keep it at "cable select" which i'm sure it comes set at already. Do you have any spare IDE and power connections? you'll need a set of those to copy hard drive to hard drive.

1. Phsyically Install the new disk as the only hdd
2. Install the OS
3. Mount the 2nd other drive as a slave and copy the stuff over :)
