Hi,
Not too long ago I built my second pc - the problem that i have (which may not really be a problem) is that the hard drive shows up as the I drive instead of the C drive. I have an internal card reader & one of the slots show up as the C drive. My hard drive is a SATA & it shows up as the first drive in the bios and the card reader is usb - do i have to move the card reader to another position or maybe do a clean install without the card reader hooked-up then re-install afterward. any help is appreciated. thanks.

you can't change the drive letter of a boot volume though, so if you were booting C with windows you would not be able to change it unless you booted from some PE or ERD disk that had disk management support.

Did it always show up as the I drive because you have multiple HD's installed? If it has changed I would say the more serious problem is why did it change?

If it has always been the I drive you just installed it that way, and you will need to do a full wipe and reload AFAIK, because you can not change the drive letter of the boot volume. I can only assume that windows lives and boots from I:\

Yeah, the only way to fix it is to wipe the drive and start over, remove all drives except for the cd/dvd player before you start the reinstall. That way no other drives will try to take the C: spot.

Card Readers are bastards.

You must have them removed before you reformat.

Otherwise they Claim over C:
