Hi,
A friend of the family have give a PC for me to fix.
I was told it been cutting out every so often.
When I got it, and check the temps in the Bios it was sitting at 80c/81c when first turned on. So I fitted another CPU fan and did the thermal paste etc... and that brought the temps down to around 40c.
Now on to the hard drive, it start to load Windows 98 (yes I know it old), you get the slash Windows 98 screen, then it comes up with Retry, Abort etc...
So I am thinking corrupted Windows 98 and maybe some bad blocks, due it cutting out.
Anyway is there away for me to get some data off the hard drive and put on a 2nd hard drive, that in the computer? before I reinstall Windows 98.
