Hard Drive Issue! =s

alright. i have a dell inspiron 1000 and i got a unmountable_boot_volume error and then i put in my xp cd to reformat it because i was getting the error everytime i tried to boot my laptop. so i tried that and it WOULD work but it goes to the safe mode screen and stuff. i set it to boot off of my cd drive first because i dont have a floppy drive. and it still goes to the safe mode screen. i have no clue on what else i can do. but now i have a new desktop and i am wondering if there is anyway i could maybe boot my laptop through my desktop or fix what is wrong with my laptop in any way.

also. if there is anything ican do to turn off safe mode it would be great. any comments on what to do about this?

start>run>msconfig>boot.ini

if safe boot is checked, uncheck it.

thats the thing. i cant get to windows. it comes up with the safe mode screen and no matter what i choose it goes to the error screen when it trys to load. i cant get to windows at all. it goes to the safe mode screen and then straight to the error screen
