my laptop runs windows 7 home premium and it has a 1tb hard drive in 3 partitions. 2 X roughly 1/2 tb and 1 100mb recovery. this is how it was set up from new.

Hi, i recently got a nasty virus and i ended up having to restore my laptop to its factory settings but now i can only see one partition in my computer.

i can see the missing partition in disk management as disk 1 465.76GB healthy (recovery partition) and i have no idea how to make it appear in my computer again so i can use it for storage.

any ideas? thanks in advance :)

That's odd. Does it have a drive letter assigned in Disk Management? If not, assign it one. If so, what happens if you type the drive letter in the address bar of your windows explorer?

What happens when you right-click the drive? You don't get any option to Change Drive Letter and Paths??? You ought to.

Try logging on as administrator in safe mode, see if you see the other two partitions, or if you have the "change drive letter" option in disk management.

If that doesn't work, I guess you could try my diskmgmt.msc file available here: http://www.jeremydean.co.nr/temp/

It's from an XP machine, but maybe it would be worth a shot?

might wnat to watch out for partition magic mainly if you ever use it to resize and then install an os it can cause read errors on the disc
i did this to install windows 7 and constant errors even after fresh installs check internet and was advised partition magic was the problem re-formatted using windows tools and has worked fine ever since
i know its off topic slightly but just a word of warning
