Hard drive problem after partition failure

I was trying to split my laptop hard drive in half using free partition software because I wanted to install another OS in the other half. The software had to perform the split on boot up, but seemingly froze during the operation. I left it for an hour to be safe, then was forced to restart. As expected it wouldn't boot, so I deleted all partitions in the windows set-up and tried to reinstall.

At about 60% of "Expanding Windows files" I get the message:

"Windows installation encountered an unexpected error. Verify that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation.

Error code: 0xC000005"

Is my hard drive toast?

2 things to check here.

1. Faulty ram - you would need to download and create a memtest cd in order to fully test your memory.

http://www.memtest86.com/

2. Errors on hard drive - You would have to download and run the drive diagnostic for the brand of hard drive you have. What brand is it and I'll link you to the download for it?

its a bad sector fix and you will have no problem in no time.. there have many application for safe bad sector removal w/o deleting your files..
