Hard drive problems, please help

I have a 100 gig SATA drive, and it refuses to work unless I put it in a software RAID configuration. That wasn't really a problem -- until now. My Linux drive (2.6 kernel) refuses to migrate to the SATA drive on the grounds that it doesn't like my software RAID. I want to move Linux to my SATA drive so it'll run faster and I won't have to disconnect the drive every time I want to go into Windows (the GRUB bootloader doesn't like the fact that it's SATA and NTFS).

Is there any way to run the drive without it in a software RAID config? Would flashing the BIOS do anything to help that? When I take it out of the RAID array it doesn't recognize it at all. It's a Promise Fast-Track chipset(?) if that helps.

Alright, nevermind. A problem has arisen with the drive, and I've decided that it's way easier to just back everything up and wipe the drive clean. I'll also be switching to the 2.47 Linux kernel, so I don't have to worry about the SATA stuff.
