Hard drive problems

I just got a new cpu, motherboard, and different ram, I installed everything and it seemed ok at first. Then after i made an attempt to reinstall windows, all hell broke loose. The problem that I am really concerned about the most is that my hard drive continously powers on and off( either that or it makes a continous clicking sound), and i have no idea why. It was working less then 2 hours ago but decided it didnt want to work now. I just upgraded from athlon xp 3000+, 1 gig pc2700 to a p4 2.8 HTT with 1 gig of pc3200. Also, instead of making a new thread, i figured id asked this here aswell.. What heatsink do you guys recommend for my proccessor, im using the retail until i can get enough money together to buy a semi-descent one.. Thanks alot.

I have tried reconnecting everything, i moved everything to a new case/power supply, i have reset cmos, i have tried everything i can think of.. but one thing i have of observed is that it restarts, now, with just a power supply, so im starting to think that is it is a hd problem and not a computer problem.. has anyone ever had anything happen to them like this

i think ur hard drive is fine, i am not sure but may be ur RAM is damage. if u have an extra RAM then change it.

Lets split things up to keep the place clean and organized :) Thanks

Are you stressing the power rail by splitting between too many devices?
