hello everyone.

my friend had this laptop and It stopped working So he gave it to me So I could Look In it and see If there was any parts I could use.

While I was looking inside I found this:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145361(16mb cache(I think))

I talked to him about it and he told me It was brand new and he bought that one thinking that the hard drive was the problem with his laptop.

Can I use it in my new system?

thanks

I'm planning to use this Hard drive to store my OS and some other programs, this one is completely fine for that right?

and Is 1tb really worth it? (I'm a gamer and I just do regular computer tasks)

Yeah, the drive will work just fine for you. I personally wouldn't recommend Hitachi drives but thats beside the point.

but, what do you guys think of 1tb for a gamer?

should I get a second 1tb drive or just use this 500gb one?

I think i'll be fine with this Hard drive, If I keep this I save about 60$ and This also has good reviews.

my only question is,

is 500gb good?

thanks

How many programs? The OS doesn't take up a lot of space. Basically the larger hard drives are for storing pictures, music, personal data. A 250 or 320 gb drive is fine for storing OS and games on.

The largest hard drive I own is a 320 gigabyte SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD322GJ/U. My 320 gigabyte hard drive is probably 60% empty. It really depends on much data you manage to accumulate. If you copy movies to your hard drive those take a lot of storage space.

I would get an 2nd hard drive or external hard drive to back up valuable data. If you do not back up data you will eventually lose it.
