Hard drive question..

Might be a stupid question, but I thought I'd ask it anyways. I put the hard drive from my computer into another computer, and it wouldn't boot up correctly, have any ideas why this could be?

Actually, it showed a windows logo that looked a bit different than normal boot up, and then a black screen with a _ at the top that kept blinking.. that's it. Files don't match hard drive? I just don't see why it wouldn't work. :-P

imagine putting a honda motor into a chevy, sure it will go in, but its not gonna work unless you change all the hoses and modify it for the car you adding it to..it will work a little, but not like you need it to..

But if it was a formatted hard drive it would work correctly then? Btw, I don't actually have a copy of windows, how do you go about reloading windows on your comp?

well do you have another HD in the computer that has windows on it? you could add this HD as a slave drive, windows you have to buy, or ask for a recovery disk from the manufacturer

The one that I want to reformat already has windows on it, I just don't know how you would do such a thing. My other computers that I have had, I had recovery disks or a D drive with a recovery program.
