hard drive recovery

hi,quick question for you experts out there.My desktop has totally given up the ghost and is beyond repair.I`ve now bought a new one,but my problem is this.
How can i get all the info off my old hard drive (photos,videos,music etc)
the old pc is now broken up and I have the hard drive out but I`ve no idea if i can do anything with it.
any help is greatly appreciated.

Put the old hard drive in as a slave drive, there will be jumpers on the back of the drive and normally a diagram on top showing you how to set them

Once its in get hold of a decent recovery program, i've tried "final recovery" with good effect but various ones are better in different areas.

I'd suggest trying a few different programs and seeing what you can save.....
