Hard drive space rapidly diappearing for no reason.

Hi there, recently I noticed that my hard drive space was dropping alarmingly per day, probably by 1gb every 12 hours of running time. I have already looked at several options:
antivirus- I have scanned my computer with avg and malwarebytes and have removed several things but my hard drive space is still going down.

windows restore points- I deleted all of them as I have a backup and disabled automatic restore points. Problem not solved.

I have run windows disk clean up and defragmented the hard drive, nothing doing.

I have run the windows free up hard drive space program and still nothing.

Since I started writing this the space on my hard drive has gone downs from 45.9gb to 45.7 gb HELP please!

Sorry about the multiple threads, I was unsurof where to post this. Is thee a way to just upload the windirstrat results or do I just have to screen shot the results?

Take a screenshot. There's no way to upload the data itself. Just show the readout in one screenshot and if it's not the Windows folder that is the largest expand whatever folder it is and take another screenshot.

Okay it looks like it's a combination of Steam and Adobe taking up a lot of your space. My recommendation is to uninstall any Steam games you're not playing at the moment.

Redo the disk scan again, but do a custom search of C:\Program Files\Adobe. I think you may have a lot of temp files in the cache in that folder we can clear out.

How do I recognize temporary files?

Also, just to reiterate, I have plenty of space as I backed several games up onto an external; hard drive and then deleted them. The problem is that space is disappearing for no apparent reason. Today it has gone from 53.4 gb to 52.3gb.

Just expand the Adobe folder and I'll tell you what to delete. You could also try downloading CCleaner and run that to delete some temp files (doesn't delete Adobe cache files though).

So are you losing total drive space, or is your free space shrinking?

I think that it is just my free space as I cannot remember how much space my hard drive had after windows was installed.

Okay, so what do I open once the Adobe folder is open?

Edit: I've got Ccleaner and I have already run it.

Well I said do a custom scan with WinDirStat of that folder and post a screenshot. I can't tell you what to delete unless I see what's taking up space.

Expand that common folder in C:\Program Files\Adobe and see what else is in there. If you see C:\Program Files\Adobe\Cache as being the most full, just open that folder and delete the contents.

There is no cache in there the screen shots is once again here:
There appeared to be no cache.

By the way, in case its relevant, I bought this off a mate who loved to play around with files, programs and modifying files he may have changed some things.

There seem to be two Steam folders. They must have made some kind of modification. Or they were working on some kind of modification.

In any case, I'd say wipe and reinstall.

OKay, I deleted the second steam folder as it was clearly contained just his stuff along with certain unofficial looking alterations. That has cleared up 100gb total on my hard drive which helps, I;'m new rerunning windirstrat. My free hard drive space is still going down. :(

I say just wipe and reinstall. That'll clear everything out and stop whatever the issue is.

If you mean wipe windows and reinstall I will have something of an issue as I do not have a windows disk and even if I did it is entirely possible that whatever it is that is causingt he problem is something I use frequently and therefore need. i have a backup but using that would not solve the problem.

I will reinstall windows only as a very last resort. I read on another forum thatt he hard drive could be becoming worn out,is this a possibility? i t is probably 3-5 years old and has beeen used quite intensively.
