Hard drive testing tools

There is a hard drive error-checking tool that I can use when I right click on the drive in My Computer and go to properties. Is this error-checking tool the same as one that I could download and use? (like SeaTools).

NO, the one like seatools is a much more in depth tool then the windows error checking program.
