I am having problems booting up, and i can't seem to call up f8 button, i might could find the problem if i could do f8,, help!!!!!, thanks jeff

soory , i went to lunch, it is a dell xps 1210 windows vista

Press F12 on boot and run the Dell diagnostics to test the hard drive. Just to rule that out.

thanks, it gave me a erro code of 2000-0146, now what does that mean

It means your hard drive has failed. Is the machine still under warranty with Dell?

Yes, you'll need a new hard drive. I imagine it's a SATA drive, so any SATA laptop drive will work. Then all you need to do is reinstall Vista and all necessary drivers with the discs you received with the laptop.

also doesnt hurt to pull up the brand's website and do a warranty check on the hard drive.

Western Digital usually has a 5-year warranty
Seagate is 3 i belive

those are most of the main brands dell uses, you might get lucky and the hard drive its self might still have a warranty if dell's warranty doesnt cover it

All OEM hard drives supplied by the pc maker only has a one year warranty or however long you if you have the extended warranty. The hdd manufacturer does NOT warranty OEM drives.
