Hard drives getting burning hot.

All my systems have started to have VERY HOT hard drives. It almost burnt me if I hadnt dropped it. And it was an WDC 2GB HDD!!! The 80GB, 120GB, and 160GB were all hotter. I can not understand what PC Wizard said 60C+ HDD temps... but anyway to make the HDDs cooler? I usually reformat my computers every week, defrag and cleanup every 1 hr.

Well today and yesterday I reformatted it 3 times total... I expect alot outtamy computers :D never had one fail yet. Even tho made outta cheapo parts.

... that's just retarded. it's totally unnecessary. one should only have to reformat every 6 months or more. what's the point of owning a computer if you're just going to erase everything on it every day? reformats don't increase the speed THAT much.

Call me that if you want but I like an clean and fast computer. I have my ways of maintaining my computers. 6 months VS brand new reformat is alot to me.

What's it any of you business how much he likes to reformat? I am sure he has some way of backing up his files, if needed... Yeah, reformats do increase speed, the less Windows has to see, then the less Windows has to seek through, well that's with any OS. He is a regular member, so I suggest you don't criticize until you have learned a few things. That's not the point of this thread, he wants to know what he can do to keep his HDD's cooler.

Now, oscaryu1, do you have them placed closely together? Like in one cage one-a-top the other? And what case do you have?

You can buy HDD HSFs. I had a WD 250GB that would get painfully hot, but I stuck one on and even constantly accessing it it was cool to the touch. You might look into one, cooling a HDD increases it's lifespan, plus you're adding circulation to the entire case.
