Hard Time Finding My Perfect Laptop

As we've all come to dread, school is about to start.

It's not school for me, it's buying a laptop to help me with my presentations and note taking, as well as my gaming needs.

As a minimum, I would expect 4 hours of battery life. My Tuesdays and Thursdays are monsters, so I need something that's gonna hold up.

I like to play Dawn of War, WoW, and some other semi-GPU-intensive games, but on occassion FEAR and Call of Duty will come up. I do play games and lots of them, and for short LAN parties I'd like to be able to bring some beef. I'm not saying I want a 7800GTX go or whatever, but just something that can hold up for a while.

So basically I'm looking for a semi portable(15" < 7lbs) machine that can handle some time away from electricity, but can play some games.

I've looked at the Mac Book Pro and the IBM T60. Those are the two I'm having a rough time with, but I'm really looking for some more suggestions.

Thanks!

if you are looking at games like FEAR and such, you'll probably want to stick with pc's/ms and not mac's..

all you really want to look into is the battery life like u said, the processor, making sure you have enough ram, and video card... everything else should cover your school work..

however, i will add that to have a good enough system to run games like FEAR so you can enjoy it, you wont get a laptop lasting 4 hours on battery. also, these laptops that claim to last 4 hours or more.. it's usually on the lowest possible setting (power saver).. which isn't suitable for anything else rather than running one program at a time and such.

aye, i realize that I'm not going to get a great FEAR machine out of a battery life spec'd laptop.

I was kinda looking for a middle man. Maybe a laptop with a video card I could upgrade in time.
