For some reason my cpu, 1 of 12, is the only one dropping the signal to the network. If I go to networking first after bootup, there is no problem browsing between other computers. However, if I drop out and go to the internet for a few minutes or other programs and come back, then I can't get logged back on. After 5-10 minutes a window will open and ask for permission to enter another cpu. Sometimes, I just give up and log off and reboot. Since I manage many work stations its very frustrating to wait and do this many times a day. Interesting the networking icon in bottom right of my screen tool bar says, I'm connected.
I am straight wired thru my personal switch hub to the hub downstairs. I have several periferials hooked to it as well. e.g. printer, etc. I've even tried just hooking my cpu up directly and bypassing my hub, but it still happens.
There is also a MAC cpu about 10 feet away (connected to my hub) that I network to from my computer and never have any trouble connecting to it. I use MACland for that hook up...but that is the only cpu I can do that.
What is happening? I'm hard wired and about 70 feet from the server. Others are that far and no problem. Can I get a booster of some type? If so, where? Is my network card weak? I would hate that because it is part of my motherboard.
Thanks for any help.
