Harddrive Problem

Hello I'm fairly new here so maybe somebody can help me out. I have 2 western digital My Book external hard drives. One is 500 and the other 750 gig. My problem is that the 750 is not being recognized by my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804). I've tried it in both slots and nothing. The 500 gig drive works fine along with my Ipod and any other USB device. When I plug in the 750 gig it lights up blue, it makes the little usb sound saying something connects, and then it doesn't do anything. I have tried it on my parents computer and it works okay. i don't understand why the 500 gig works fine and the 750 works great. any help would be great.

What os are you running? Did you perhaps format the drive on a windows vista system, then try to connect to a system running xp?

No I haven't tried reformatting the drive at all. I originally had Vista on my laptop and the 500 and 750 worked fine. Then I had a friend put XP pro on and it both drives worked fine but all of a sudden the 750 stopped working. Like it works every now and then but it doesn't work all the time.

Directly download the driver of the hard disk from the manufacturer and now try it. Format the drive too, not quick format(will take almost half a day) but full format.
