harddrive related computer freezing?

im not sure if this is entirely HDD related, but i have come to such a conclusion.
the issue is that if i run applications (games, music) from another HDD other than my C, the computer freezes, but only the interactivity part. ie. the mouse still moves, but i cant click anything, neither can i alt-tab but i can ctrl-alt-del and the window pops up, yet i cant use it any which way.

perhaps its that one of my HDD's is almost full, 89% of 500Gb, and that the C drive is only 80Gb with about 30% free. or it could be my cables being odd. they are connected to the mother board. in the 'red' SATA ports, skipping the slave ports, 'black'.

there was also an issue earlier where i couldnt get windows to work properly on my old C, the 500Gb, as it would install fine, then crash on loading screen after a reboot, immediately after the installation was complete.

all worked fine up untill the C crash (500) which came at a surprise, it just stopped loading windows one day after a restart...

You are running out of drive space as one main problem being seen there. Plus you are custom installing games and apps onto a second drive causing registry glitches when trying to run programs as well as the lack of space for the paging file.

That is used for virtual memory to suppliment the amount of physical memory installed. When a certain amount of the physical memory is used temporary information is stored on the drive itself. Freeing up drive space by moving files off of the OS drive and seeing games and apps installed there would be the first step.

so if i were to buy a new 500Gb HDD, to replace the 80, which is acually only a backup after the other 500Gb went weired with windows for some reason, then if i install all my games and large applications on that it should run ok?

There shouldn't be any problems as long as none are seen with the installers themselves. I run 3 500gb drives as well as a 250gb at the moment with dual booting and file transfers to see the ide gone once everything is set. Each drive has a copy of Windows on it being the ide was first with Vista.

XP was later replaced on the first now second sata(500gb each) with Vista while the second sata used for storage is now seeing both versions dual booted there while some other OSs are planned for the other one. Your first 500gb there may only need a good cleaning like seeing a brand new primary partition for a clean install of Windows or use it to save files and folders on to free space on the newer one.
