Harddrive ticking?

Hmm...it's hard to describe the sound my drive makes... It's not really so much a mechanical sounding tick, but almost like something from the PC-Speaker. There's no certain time my computer makes it, and I've never had any problems with this drive...

I was mostly wondering if anyone else had a Western Digital 160G and had similar "problems" This isn't really a problem, I suppose, but just one of those not normal things I'd like to pinpoint :P

I have SMART enabled and I really don't keep anything on the drive that matters if I loose... Probably nothing to worry about, but I've just not heard a drive sound like this before. At least it's nothing like my previous Seagate!

If I can, I need some clarification.. It is common for WD drives to go *click click click*. I don't ever remember SMART picking up on it, but it was a sign that they were failing or had failed. Is this the same noises you are hearing? I'm trying to think of a way to describe them to you. It's like one of those clicker toys that you may have had as a kid. You push the button and it makes a click sound. Not sure if that helps.

Yea, I have the same problem with my HDD. came out to be bad model. got a new one (same model) and same thing happened. it can slow down your computer loads, mostly loading and installin games. can caush older files to corrupt and games that have been installed a while ago to crash. clicking can be a sign of you HDD dieing.
