hardrive swap

Sorry this has been probably asked a bunch of times I just need a quick answer, my laptop is having issues and needs to be replaced but I have quite a few games and pictures movies you name iit that I don't want to lose access to I have a desktop just sitting around can I just plug my laptop ha drive into the desktop and have it run the desktop they looked like they were interchangeable physicaly but will it just boot up?

No, the laptop hard drive will not boot up while installed in the desktop because of different hardware involved. If you tried booting to it it would either blue screen on you or just reboot. You can always transfer the data to a new drive or just use the laptop hard drive as a storage drive.
