Hardware probs

ok this is my MOBO "http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=1952&ModelName=GA-8I915MD-GV". As u will see theres only 1 ide controller.Right now connected in my machine is 2 sata HD and a dvd writer. The writer is IDE Master (no slave).
I have 2 other Ide HD.Both in very good condition.If i put a new HD in now, bios will fail to see the other HD,which in that case is SATA.But is able to see the writer.
1.If i put the IDE HD as master only it will see the satas but wont go further than the XP boot logo.it will just keep on loading.

2.If i use only sata with that Ide (still master) it will boot (bios will detect the IDE) but XP wont see the HD (not even in Disk management)

3.If i remove all sata and leave the IDE as master it will fail to boot (which is normal cuz its only a HD for data) but will take ages before it tells me boot disk failure (like some 1 minutes or so)

Something i havent done yet is to put the Writer as slave.But i wont do it coz i know that it will be same as 3.

I cant figure out what is doing this..why is my writer working and my HD not working ?

Does this MOBO preventing me to add a new IDE ?

Crap..i had in my possesion 2 very bad Hard drives men.Both with bad clusters,sectors. I thought the hard drives were good..Anyway i'll return it ASAP.
