hardware raid pci to sata card

i was browsing newegg but don't know how to tell the 'hardware' ones from 'software' raid cards.

reading the reviews, it seems like most of them just suck. where can i find a good one, preferably around $75 with 4 sata2 ports or one with two ports for around $50. if possbile .

somebody recommend me one plz.

i want to turn it into a simple file server with a pci-sata controller and mirror a couple of terabyte drives.

i read somewhere that most of these use the cpu for the raiding, lol, they are software raid. could somebody point me to a hardware raid card that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, plz.
