WIndows 10 Hardware Upgrade for my Toshiba

I was hoping for some help before I pull the trigger on purchasing some hardware for my Toshiba Laptop. My old GPU (GTX 670m) burnt out on me. The GPU is easily removed via the MXM port on the motherboard. I would like to purchase a newer GPU, but I am unsure if a GTX 980m (originally designed for a Dell, Clevo, Alien, or HP) would even function in my Toshiba laptop. I'm a bit a virgin when it comes to hardware upgrades, and I would appreciate any help that anyone could provide. Thanks in advance.
