harmful programs???

some of my family members have downloaded programs such as stopzilla and some other "spyware" programs but they are having the problem of not being able to run any programs and pop ups every minute or so
i uninstalled one of them but should i be worried about any lasting problems?
it has other virus and spyware programs such as norton and adware but those havnt been able to run i dont believe

Slower then usually i assume.
