Hate for Samsung!

So yesterday I am sitting on the couch when I look at my Samsung Epic and it says you have a firmware update! Yes I get very excited just to find out that I am going from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6, now yes I should be grateful to still be seeing attention from them but come on. Is it not bad enough that I didn't even get Gingerbread until a week before ICS source code was released (Novemember those of you who did not know). I read that the HTC Evo is getting ICS, I remember buddies of mine that had HTC's getting gingerbread months before mine. Does HTC take better care of there customers with updates and does Samsung truley suck. I only use samsung cause I prefer the gui and the look of the phone itself but I am getting a new phone tax season and really looking into a HTC for my next phone.

I doubt the regular htc evo 4g will be getting the ICS update as its only single core cpu. I have the phone myself and it does have rebooting issues. My girlfriend had the evo shift and had the same issues. I am actually thinking of upgrading to the Epic SII, i can upgrade anytime now.

Phones don't have to be dual core to be supported. Sony is bringing ICS to the entire 2011 Xperia line, all of which have single core cpus.

I've also used a leaked alpha on my single core xperia play, it's quite zippy.

A Sprint rep I believe told me that ICS wouldn't become available for the EVO because its only single core. I've been searching online and some sites say yes and some say no, so I guess we will wait and see.

I have a Samsung Galaxy SII, and I think they are doing ICS on it, but its unclear.

Great phone, but poor rollout of new firmware.

It's a matter of the manufacturer not wanting/bothering to support the phone. Single core phones are definitely able to run ICS, as other manufacturers (Sony, LG) are releasing it on their older single core devices. I've also personally ran it on my single core phone, and it runs fine. LG is even planning on releasing it on their mid-range 600mhz single core phones.

With my Galaxy S I agree, the firmware updates take some digging to even find.

Although, I do love everything else about their products and I look to get Samsung products before many other products lots of times!

Google it, Evo is getting it. For sure the Evo 3D will be.

Yeah but they make such awesome phones. Like with my tax return I am looking at going with the new Samsung Galaxy S2 sky rocket. Excellent resolution on the phone, good camara and not to mention a dual core 1.5 Ghz cpu. Plus if the online sources are currect it will be getting ICS this first quarter.
