HATE Windows 8!!

Exactly. I boot to the desktop and have the Windows 7-style start menu back, I rarely notice the new flat UI.

The best part? I didn't even change anything, it did that automatically after an update. Although booting on Metro UI isn't that much of a big deal, it became more Win familiar to boot on desktop.

And games do work, unless you're trying to play some 15 year old games... And for most of them you can find a way to play them on Win8.1 anyway. But if you're going Linux, Ubuntu has an app called playonlinux if I'm not mistaken that I used in order to play old games such as Stronghold and AoEII :)

I have never used it, but from what I saw and read made me not want to even go there. For one thing I'm not an Apps guy and I like what I've been using for the last 30 years.

I just recently went to Win7 and wasn't so sure until I discovered that I had access to some of the old commands just by pressing the 'Alt' Key. I don't have any idea if that works the same on Win8

Ugh... I totally HATE Windows 8/8.1!!!
It's so complicated! You need to go from Start to the desktop and the apps are not in the Desktop and you need to go again on Start to run an downloaded application!
Also, you can't just download games from anywhere in the Net(it didn't work for me)
you need to download your games from the Marketplace and in games that need money you can't just BYPASS it!!!!

You can install Classic Shell and use it just like Windows 7. Your apps appear in the start menu under the "Apps" folder.

Don't know what you're trying to download but everything works the same as it did with previous versions of Windows.

Uh, no. You don't have to download apps or games from the marketplace, you can download and install them from anywhere, just like Windows 7, Vista, XP, or earlier.
