Have completed the specs for my new PC, but I would appreciate a second opinion.

Comes out to about $1200

Thanks for any help, advice, tips, or even 2 cents guys.

it all looks very good, but personally i think u culd get a cheaper mobo and then upgrade ur processor to maybe an X2 3800+. and if u dont wanna do that upgrade ur gpu to a 7800gt.

but i think $230 for a mobo is a bit of an overkill.

Well I wanted a MOBO that can handle a dual core so i can upgrade later if I want.

I'm going to SLI eventually instead of going for the 7800. It will cost more in the end, but it will save me money at the start.

u definitly dont need a 230 mobo to support dual core. look around hte forum, plenty of people have around 100 dollar mobos with dual core processors.

the ASUS A8N32-SLI is definately one of the best if not the best mobo for gaming or a pc enthusiast, the reason why it is so expensive is because i believ e it's the first mobo to support true dual 16x SLI...meaning when you SLI your video cards in the future they will run at 16x each...instead of 8x each with the other SLI mobos

1. 16X SLI offers almost no improvement
2. The ASUS is too expensive for your buget and you can get better parts with a cheaper mobo.
3. The Ultra-D suports the X2 after a BIOS flash, and newer versions suport it out of the box (dont always listen to newegg)
4. A more ballenced system would be:

DFI Ultra-D
X2 3800
1 Gb RAM
7800GT

Someone told me, "Having a SLI 16x capable MOBO makes absolutely no difference what so ever, because a 6800 series isn't going to max out an 8x bus. Hell, a 7800gt won't either."

is this true?

I'm not overly worried about the processor at this point because it's going to be a gaming rig, but I want the RAM because games like BF2 require it to run at top speed.
