Look, you may have smoked part of the memory controller on the CPU. But try what Strangle said.

Sorry been away, yea will have a look at it. The way I understand it there's millions of transistors on a CPU so you can afford to lose a few. No expert like.

OK so flashing the BIOS to the latest one didn't work. I did check and the RAM is running at 1.50v

So as it stands I've a machine that appears to be running perfectly but will only run RAM in the primary slots. if I put my other two sticks in the secondary slots I get DRAM LED light and doesn't post.

So what can I try nex


UPDATE: I've got it running on 12GB. I removed the first RAM chip and boom. So it appears that slot one is the problem.

UPDATE 2: ok So i've taken out stick 4 and and put it in slot one and it's booted with 12GB so the problem isn't with slot one. The problem seems to be it doesn't want to run with 4 sticks. mmmm.


UPDATE 3: Ok it's now running with all 4 sticks. Whatever the problem was it appears to have gone. The only thing I can think is that the sticks were in the wrong order. Even though theyre all the same I bought them as matched pairs and when I first installed win7 it's written to it that way? not sure. Dare I say problem solved. if I have anymore issues I'll be back. Thanks for everyone's time.
