A friend of mine says he can't open buttons in the taskbar by just left clicking on them. He has to right click and then left click on "open". I have looked in task bar properties and can't find anything on this. Any ideas?

Sounds more like icons seen in the system tray. With those you right click to select an option from a dropdown menu. That's normal. The Quick Launch bar is where you can start IE or something else seen there with a simple left click. Your friend would have to be a little more specific.

I think what he is talking about is the blue taskbar at the bottom of the screen next to the bottom of the screen, i/e, if you open internet explorer, and minimize it, he can't just click on it to maximize it again, he has to right click and click "restore" to open it again.

On that XP or Vista? On XP IE can be removed and reinstalled to see that corrected if that is the only problem. IE 7 is a regular update where he would revert back to IE 6 or download a copy of 7 to a folder for the reinstall.

i sometimes have the same problem... i think it is my video card... i don't know.... but just left click on it... who goes through the right-click open stuff...

How could it be a video card causing the problem? That doesn't make sense.

With IE it would be IE as simple as that. For several things you then have to look at display problems since that effects a variety of things as well as seeing a Windows glitch of some other type. Generally a video driver/software issue will see things freeze up rather then make any particular button unusable however.
