Have to use 24 pin connector?

I'm replacing a board in a computer with this one:

It has a 24-Pin power plug, but there was a sticker on the +4 pins. The case I'm putting it in is a Micro ATX case, and it has a special smaller power supply, which only has a 20-Pin connector. I tried it, and everything turns on, but it won't output a picture. Is this because I'm only using a 20 pin connector in a 24 pin mobo? I've ordered a converter, but I would like to know.

All I can say is read in the manual. I know some work fine without the extra pins, and some require it...

The manual is like 7 pages long and doesn't even mention power connections.

I ran my old motherboard using an old 20 pin connector - it worked fine but i only used it for 2 days while my converter was being delivered.

Well, I just hooked up another PSU with a 20+4 pin connector, and it still doesn't work. It powers up, but there is no display at all...

bad video card? bad ram?

No video card, RAM should be OK... I think I just got a bad mobo.

I had this problem once, this was because i forgot to plug in the four pin connector that is usually next to the CPU - im pretty sure you would have plugged it in but check anyway?

Yup, I got it. I've already ordered a new board, and will be sending this one back... looking at the reviews on newegg, several people have had similar problems, so I'm guess this is just a bad board.

Yep my first ever build was with a pc chips board - never got it to work, so sent it back - wouldnt buy from them again

That's what I get for taking the gamble with a poorly rated board... you'd think I'd learn. Both times I've got something from Newegg that had less than desirable ratings I've had tons of problems with it.
