Having an SSD as the only drive

At the moment I have a 60Gb SSD & a 1Tb HDD in my desktop. I am not happy with this setup, as I have documents, photos etc in files on both.
In short it is a mess with duplicate & split files.
I am thinking to replace both with a single 1Tb Samsung SSD.
My questions are :-
Is this practical?
Can I transfer everything, including Windows 7, from both drives to the new SSD?
I have Norton Ghost, will that successfully transfer all to the SSD?
Will all the duplicate & split files merge to one during the transfer?
I want to avoid a manual reload of everything, as it would be a nightmare for me.

Being of the older generation, I am not too computer literate. It is a struggle to solve problems, though I eventually get there given time
Many thanks for your patience.

I have a similar setup and I don't have the same issues. Why do you have duplicates and why do you have documents and photos on both?

What split files do you have?

It is practical to combine both drives if you consider the cost of a 1TB ssd practical. They have come down in price but still run around $400-450 or more. A little attention to detail when creating and saving files wouldn't cost you a penny.

I don't know of a way to easily combine 2 drives into a single drive. Your best bet would be to do a clean install of your OS, then copy your data files to the new drive. Duplicates and split files will NOT merge automatically.

As far as you being "of the older generation", I say phooey on that. You're only 5 years older than I am and I don't consider myself to be old. :-)

Thanks for your reply Strollin.
I am not sure why I have some items in same name files on both drives. The computer must have generated them? Most things seem to save on the SSD C: drive, when I don't want them there. Over time, it has become a pain & trying to find things, an even bigger pain.
I was thinking I could copy the C: drive (old SSD) to the new SSD, then copy the HDD to the new SSD.
If not, then I may have to reload everything & start again.
Either way, I want everything back on one drive.
I suppose I could use a smaller SSD, as I only use about 300Gb between the old SSD & the HDD. I mentioned 1Tb SSD as I thought it would be future proof.

You can do this or you can set up Smart Response via intel RST and the computer will cache on the ssd and you will only 'see' one drive. This will give you the 1TB drive space with almost the same speed as the ssd without having to buy anything.

You can move your documents, videos, pictures, and other folders to the second drive, that way they are all stored in one location and not split between the two.

To answer your question though, yes you can, you just pay more per GB to do it.
