Hello,

I just bought a new computer, I am trying to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 Home 64 bit. It gave me an error saying that it did not detect the harddrive. I went to my bios and I saw the only thing that showed connection was ATAPI IHAS124B. The HDD was not found.

I'm not sure where to go at this point. I need to first get my HDD recognized. How do I do this?

The HDD is a Seagate Barracude 1TB ST100DM003
My mother board is an Asus p8z68-v lx
As far as I know everything is plugged in correctly. I'll be providing pictures in a second.

As long as you have a power cable and a data cable hooked up to it, the motherboard should detect it unless the hard drive is totally dead. Does the drive spin up when you turn computer on?

Do you have 2 cables attached to the drive? Can you verify the connector used gives out power? Try the drive in another system and see if it detects it. Seems like its not getting power then.

Try a different power connector, which is the wider sata connection, you may have a bad power cable. I would also try connecting the drive to another system to see if it spins up, if not, you have bad drive and need to return it.
