Hd 4870 X2 is out,but...

Finally! :)

Yeah, it's $60 more than I thought, but again, that's the 2GB version, maybe they'll come out with a cheaper, 1GB version. Since the HD4870 comes in 512MB

Well if it doesnt perform much better than single Hd 4870's in crossfire they may be the better price/performance choice though with the price drops lately.

Im gonna wait for 4850X2 (Apparently they are on the way)

This is Too Expensive and Chews too my power. At this rate we will soo be putting petrol in the GPUs to make them run. I can see it now

Is there really a Hd 4850 X2 version? If there is what is release date? And can you post any links of previews of it? Thx
 
Well I just checked it out and is to retail for $449 So I am guess actually $500 by current gouging standards common in Gpus today.So it is more than running 2 Hd4850 in crossfire,might as well as go ahead and get the 4870 X2 then.I guess could do the cheap crossfire thing with cheaper cards at least thats an option with Sli/Crossfire.

That's what I thought, if you keep watching them though they come back in stock for a short period of time. I bought the Sapphire version for $559. I believe the $499 price was just a rumor, or maybe what it will be in a month or two, but several sites listed the MSRP of being around $550.
 
the diamond version is supposed to cost $499, but, if you remember anything released in the past, newegg price gouges, especially when things get lots of hype.
 
put that in CF. i dont care who you are, your processor will bottleneck.

i just always find that double card setups perform worse and draw more power than single card setups. somehow i think you'll get better performance out of a single 4870 per dollar than two 4850's, and all your games will run on high anyways. you'll even save on your electric bill.

theres a reason they charge you over $400... because you dont need it!

if you needed it, more people would be buying it and the companies would be willing to charge less because they'd be selling in bulk. they're competing with other companies, so they really need to sell you it as cheap as they can for the performance that it gives lol
