hello

i need help in choosing which of these GPU (HD5770 or GTX260) is better or is there any other suggestion? plus the brands? because i'm going to build a new desktop next few weeks. Budget for the GPU below than $200

others parts:

quad core i5 750
Asus P7P55DE - mobo
kingston DDR3 2GB - Ram
Vantec modular 600W - psu
21.5" LCD monitor

thank you - aishu

I think this is probably better then the 260, but I'm not sure about the 5770, also it probably doesn't work with you mobo.

why is it doesnt work with the mobo? is it cause of SLI and CFX? or anything else? i thought its working and it is recommended by some some people. plus will this HD 4890 can support those new games till 2011? because maybe i will not going to change this GPU for a year or two.

This your board?

Just checking because ASUS doesn't show that model on their site.
So the board is SLI, CrossFireX so for the price vs performance id get a 5770 but not from XFX they apparently are shipping faulty cards (something to do with the crossfire bridge).

*edit*
You have a 4890? If so 5770 is not as good as a 4890 (cept having DX10) id seriously hold off till the 5850 or better cards then. Also note you might have to upgrade your PSU on the higher-end GPUs.

Well, I'm not very tech savvy, so you have to match up certain details of a card to would with the mother board. It should last till 2011, but getting a ATI Radeon 5870 would future proof it even more. If my 5850 can barely get 60 fps in Dirt 2 DirectX 11, then the 5770 would get about 45-50 so I would recommend getting a 5870.

No, he doesn't have the 4890, I was simply recomending him it. But I don't know if the specifications of the mother board goes with the video card.

yeah, that one. and i don't have 4890. If so 5770 is not as good as a 4890 (cept having DX10) then maybe i should get the 5850 or 5870, aite? lots of money. need to hold off first then. and im going to upgrade my PSU too later on for a better GPU. btw, which of these brands are good to choose? thinking of Asus and Sapphire for main choice. any other recommendation?

Theblackoutow

Twist86 also recommend me of getting either 5850 or 5870. and i will wait for more weeks then, btw, which of these brands are good to choose? thinking of Asus and Sapphire for main choice. any other recommendation?

$300 ouchh.. yeah. but i don't think the price will drop by next few weeks right? i really need a new desktop to do assignments and playing games LOL. budget now is only $200, main choice will be HD 5770. if cant wait till next month, maybe i will go for HD5770. Sapphire.

thanks for recommend :)

maybe wait 2-3 days for the 5830 to be released? (launch price is set to be $239 USD)

As for the XFX 5770 issue, they are only making cards with custom PCB's now, and they are missing a crossfire connector (they usually have 2) and a power phase. as for what they may have improved (possibly the grey screening issue) nobody wants to hear it :o

I got one of the custom PCB 5770's. so far the power phase and crossfire connector aren't an issue :)

I would go with the 4890 as it does pump the frames out better then the 5770. DX11 is a plus BUT since there are no TRUE DX11 games out yet we can't see how good it will actual do.

It could be slower then a dog. Its a personal preference though...if you overclock 4890 is the win but if your stock I would say 5770 is more of your cup of tea.

according to XFX site the standard version of xfx 4890 does not have any shader clocks

look it up ^^

And why would nvidia care what shader clocks ati cards have?

FYI: Ati shaders are the same clock as the core, but are not listed. hence ati cards have more stream processors (5770 has 800 clocked @ core speeds) and nvidia cards have less (GTX 260 has 216, but are clocked at their own speed seperate to core clocks)
