Hd 6850?

hey all i got my new 6850 today and i am loving it, quick question though, will i need a new cpu to get the most or is it just not as good as i want it to be.

I was on gtaiv before and i cant get close to maxing it :P, i know its very cpu intensive but by how much?

Will i see decent gains in fps if i upgrade my cpu?

I intend to in a few weeks anyway but will i see a big difference or will it be minimal?

Its weird as my gpu seems to work better at 1900x1080 than it does on 1366x768 (1080 being my tv and 1366x768 being my usual monitor)

Also after upgrading my cpu what settings can i expect from bf3 at 1366x768?

Last question, is there any cheap decent mobos (£70-110) that have crossfire at x16/x16 rather than x16/x4 or x16/x8 as i would like to crossfire these eventually.

Yeah, a new CPU will do a lot of good. Especially, because you'll need new RAM, which will be much faster.

But then you'll need a new copy of windows, so you'll need a new board, cpu, RAM, and windows. Upgrading is hard with older hardware. I wouldn't bother upgrading your socket 775 CPU though.

Yeh iv been looking at parts including windows 7, i made a thread about it a couple of week ago and have some idea of what i want.

But saying that i cant find an am3+ board that has crossfire at x16/x16 in my price range, come to think of it i cant find one at all, do they even exist?

Id never dream of updating my 775 :P

just want to say that x8 loses less than 10% performance, don't remeber the amount though, but x16/x8 and x8/x8 will lose almost nothing, you'd never notice unless it was a few years from now and the game was pulling everything from those gpu's

Its in the last thread you checked out of mine :P £300 for mobo, ram, cpu and windows7

Iv had my gpu sorted now (send the 5830 back and got the 6850 from a different place)

But seeing as though bf3 is a lot more intensive on ultra and high i guessed id need a dual gpu config so thats why im wanting a good crossfire platform.

I wont have the money for 4 weeks yet :P But i think iv worked out what ill get based on the fact that 2500k is just way to expensive for me at the moment.

Found the mobo im after too :D

http://www.dabs.com/products/gigaby...le&utm_medium=product+search&utm_content=Q200

it has x16/x16 (i think, http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3894&dl=1#sp the specs lead me to believe so :P)

Im either going to go 1090t, or 955be depending on if i can stretch the budget a few quid

That's the one I posted, and yes, it has two 16x slots, not x16 and x8, but two x16.

Oh yeh :P, I must have missed your post, sorry claptonman.

Last question about the gpu though, once i have upgraded what sort of fps will i see in gta iv on high with just one card (hopefully maxed not counting on it though) and with 2 6850's could i max it? The same question goes for bf3 too.
