HD Editing laptop

hi,
never posted on anything like this before so bare with me. I have a HD PVR for recording xbox 360 footage, my laptop is fine to do that, but when i put the files into sony vegas 11 when the video length starts to above about 1-2mins the vegas crashes if i try to render or playback.

anything i can do to help or stop this apart from buying a new laptop?? or would a simplier software help, because i hardly touch the surface of what vegas can do, just trim and put few clips together with bit of text over the some.

You could use Windows Movie Maker, it can do a lot of cool stuff with the tools it has.

what are your computer specs? Often when people have problems using the features in more premium multi media software is can be due to a lack of ram. Believe it or not those programs use a lot of ram.
