i got a couple questions about hd enclosures capacity: i want to use an enclosure for a 750gig seagate.
1. how much capacity can an hd enclosure support? does it depend on the enclosure itself or the computer? i was looking at enclosures over at newegg.com and it had this enclosure that said supports up to 500GB. i dunno if it could actually support an hdd bigger than 500gb.
2. is aluminum-type enclosures generally the best choice?
3. is there such a thing as an 3'5 inch enclosure w/ fans that has e.sata? i looked for it at newegg.com and zipzoomfly.com but couldnt find any.
the main thing i wanna know is does the enclosure capacity depend on the enclosure itself or the computer?
i got a fairly modern pc and running xp sp2.
edit: an off topic question:
how do u know when ur hdd is beginning to die on u? is the death sudden or gradual? and if gradual, is there a way to estimate the time ur hdd will die?
