HD external recognition ?

    I have 6 PC's -- running fine .... BUT ::: 1 PC -- requires me to always go into Computer Manager __ when I connect a ext HD --- and give the drive a letter --otherwise it will not recognize the external ?? Has for over 2 years -- never fails -- Is there a easy work around for this problem ??

    WIN Home Premium 7 AMD ~ 4300 Quad

    Does read media cards /thumb drives ----- just not a simple HD

    If you most likely did a fresh install of windows, the issue would go away. Something is corrupt, you can try doing the SFC /SCANNOW command at a command prompt to see if any files are corrupt or altered.

    Thanks will try the scan --- will see if I can find the disc -- do a fresh install ... " Need to be the administrator running a console session " -- so have to remember the path ..

    Hello, good evening, the problem that you have, I think, are the USB mass storage controllers will be defective. Try updating all the drivers, one by one until you recognize your device when plugging in to the PC greetings.

    Try to update all your drivers and recognize your device when you plug in to your computer. You can also use the SFC /SCANNOW command to find out the corruption. This can fix your problem.
