HD failure? What to replace it with?

Been having problems booting up, and when I manage to an hour later my computer freezes after a few minutes in the OS. I figure my hard drive has failed, and in the boot screen I get something like 'oc00000ex disk failure' quite often. I have an emachines computer(they don't last long and aren't that good to start with) with a small case and such. I'm wondering if I can replace the hd with a 2tb seagate barracuda or if I need a new mobo to support and recognize the drive. Will it fit with what I have or do I need to upgrade anything else like case and mobo to accommodate it?

you dont say to much about your system, but im assuming its a sata hard drive, and is a standard 3.5inch desktop, in which yes any sata hard drive you choose should be fine.
