So i just installed a new motherboard cpu and ram into my current computer, everything iam pretty sure is installed the same way it was before.

i have a sata hd, and whenever its connected it doesnt seem to turn on. but when its unplugged the computer runs fine and i can run windows 7 of the cdrom.

is my hd fried or is that a connection issue?

if you guys need any other info let me know, ill try and tell you correctly

So your saying the computer won't boot up if the power cable to the hard drive is connected? Either a bad hdd or bad power connector from PSU.

yup. that seems to be the problem. ill try changing the connecter for the psu tomorrow. since i have no idea where the wires are. and also the first time i tried turning it on it did run, but couldnt detect the hdd when i was trying to reformat the hdd. and then when i tried re connecting it and messing with the power cables. thats when it stopped turning on when the hdd was connected.

It was the hdd. got it replaced and am now running windows 7 64bit and my dvd drive for some reason doesnt want to run the bios and utilities disk for the new mobo. Is this a problem with windows or the drive? it actually doesnt seem to run anything. and was working perfectly fine while i was installing windows xp and windows 7 upgrade.
