HD from PC to TV

ok trying to work out if this is going to work. I've got some HD clips that i've downloaded, mainly trailers for movies etc. All completely legit.

What I wanna know is if I can use my PC to show these clips on a HD ready TV. I have a radeon X850 and the TV is a samsung 32" HD ready.

Can i simply use a DVI/VGA connector from card to tv and expect to see things in HD or do I need some kind of HDMI to do it?
 
aye its got a pc in with a vga connection on it as well as the plethora of other inputs.

So can anyone confirm for sure that the vga would allow me to output Hi Def to the tv from the PC?
