Hd Issue

To make a long story shot.

My computer died and has been down for a few weeks now, but I now need to acess my files. I have decided to throw my hd into my friends desktop.
My hd has xp on it while his has mce. Also both are on a diff north bridge, but both are amd.
I threw my hd into his pc and it was reconized fine, however I am unble to acess my files within "My Documents".
Is there any way of geting around this.

You have to go into 'Safe Mode' by pressing F8 and logging-in as your friends account. Then you navigate to the folder(s) you want and in the properties box select the security tab and take ownership of all the files and folders inside. It could take a short while but you should be able to re-boot into Wiindows as normal and access the files, Microsoft have an article on their site about it I recall.
